ongoing strike delays

Jo'burg Airport 11:00 am local time - Sitting in Jo'burg and we're definately not flying to Kenya as scheduled. Flight was late from London and there was just no way. Luckily, we are rebooked to fly straight into Kili airport and it looks like all plans from there will fall into place. Providing, of course, that they locate our luggage and get it on this flight!!

So far, we've learned how to queue (alot) and that queuing in Africa means one of two things. Either no one is working so please wait here indefinately or push your way through to the front. We chose the latter which is how we got ourselves on the Kili flight.

If all goes well, the only thing we miss now is one leisurely recovery night after coming off Kili. Currently we expect to walk off the mountain, into a shower and out to safari...all in the span of a few minutes.

Grant is a fabulous reality check to my massive swings in emotion from optimism to pessimism and elation to disappointment.

Hopefully the next time you hear from us, it will be a report of no altitude sickness, successful summits and wild african animals.

Hmmm... I wonder if Brad and Angelina have this much trouble getting around Africa...

Best of luck climbing Kili! Can't wait to hear about it.

Airports, delays, blah, blah, blah, I love Grant, blah, blah, blah, blah...Grant loves me, blah, lions, elephants, blah, blah...NOW THE IMPORTANT STUFF!

Iginla signs 3 year, $21 million deal with Flames.
Jordan Leopold signs 2 year, $2.3 million deal with Flames.
Flames sign Tony Amonte to $3.7 million, 2 year deal.
Flames sign Darren McCarty to $1.6 million deal.

We did however lose Gelinas to Florida where he signed a 2 year, $1.9 million deal.

More to come!

Kim - interesting about the hockey and I am definately more excited about the shoes (particularly since I only have one pair with me!!!). We are definately not Brad and Angelina...maybe you need to adopt a child to get the good treatment (and no, please don't read into that comment...there's no news about us adopting children...although, if it would get our luggage back....... :)

Grant - The hockey news is great...just about fell out of the chair with the Amonte signing...luckily I said I was in for 1/2 the tix!! Shoe sale...this might be the only time I wish I could find a shoe sale having only hiking boots to wear (hiking boots which I have just put lots of vertical feet in the past 5 days - with a few blisters!!)
